ChildNet has been chosen by the Florida Department of Children & Families to serve as the Community Based Care (CBC) lead agency in both Broward and Palm Beach Counties. As such, it is the single private non-profit entity responsible for managing the local system of services and supports for the communities’ most vulnerable children.

Our system of care was developed with extensive input from local stakeholders and its effective implementation depends upon their continued support.

OUR HISTORY

More than 100 years ago, Annie E. Casey was a widow raising her four children near Seattle. Her sacrifice and struggles deeply affected her eldest, Jim, who dedicated his life to creating an enduring legacy of service to children and families in America.

With a rich legacy covering close to 120 years, CHS is committed to celebrating the good of all– from our programs to our team members–, so everyone feels at home on Team CHS.

Through our continued partnership with families within nearly every community in Florida, we know just how beautifully diverse our state truly is. It’s an asset, a treasure, and what makes our Sunshine State a true gem.

We know we’re stronger together when learning from one another and that understanding our needs and challenges is key to providing the best solutions and support in our mission of good.

I’m Ellen Kaplan, and this is my story (or why I do what I do).

I believe my work is not a job, but a calling guided by the unyielding principles of truth, honesty, compassion, love and courage. The right families come for the right babies and the right babies await the right families. Nothing happens by chance; there is a higher hand at work guiding everything. Everyone involved is bound together through the child, and that honoring the birth family and holding them in the highest regard is key to the child’s growth and development. In providing the most compassionate, caring and knowledgeable experience possible for both birth and adoptive parents.
